John Long

John Long lives in Doha, Qatar and is a full time painter. After graduating from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles he ran his own graphic design and illustration office in Vancouver for 25 years. His work is in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Canada and has been exhibited across Canada as well as Los Angeles and San Francisco.

He has had several shows in the Middle East, including the Abu Dhabi Cultural Center and one the Sharjah Cultural Center Museum. In March of 2007 John had a one-man show at the Qatar Fine Arts Society gallery. The show was opened by Chase Untermeyer the US Ambassador to Qatar. In 1999 and in 2001, he had art shows at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Center. The first was a one-man show with 25 original works. The second was with students in his graphic design class.

He had a total of 17 original works with the students totaling over 100 works of art. In the spring of 2000, he was part of a group art show in Sharjah, the artistic center of the United Arab Emirates. The Sharjah Art Gallery is in keeping with the Islamic architecture and very well appointed. It is one of the finest examples of Arabic art galleries. He is also creating works for galleries in Mexico.
